Day 15: Monday 6th June 2011. we’ve come to Vancouver. I think (?) we’re in the suburbs. The map is of a grid of streets, so I had expected a cityscape. Instead it looks to us like Greenford – grass verges and mature trees, but with lots of small elegant wooden buildings. Inspirational to meet the Rees family, including the remarkable young Finlay (below) and Connor (6 weeks). And we have lunch with Brian Doerksen and our old friends Brian Thiessen & Calum Rees, rehearsals are in progress for a tour. It’s amazing to hear top quality musicians preparing a substantial work, “Prodigal God (the musical tale of two brothers and one wastefully extravagant father)”. BD’s band are pausing from rehearsal for their imminent tour. After a day of discussion and walking, we’re tired and easily sleep well in our heritage home, a wooden Edwardian b&b in a leafy Vancouver suburb.
