Art Club: Birch Trees

My grandchildren call it “Art Club” when we get the paints out. In this case, birch trees on a roll of lining paper. First the skeletons with Graphite Sticks:

Next we added colour, and used clingfilm for texture. As usual the water brings contrast and tones out of the Graphite.

I like this so much (You have to see it life-size, with glowing watercolours on acres of matt lining paper) that I have another go on my own. So. 60x80cm. Big picture of Birch Trunks. Start with B&W drawing with a bit of tone. Graphite Stick & watery mop. Colour? Y/N? Errrrr… let’s go for it…
